The SOE building with spring buds on the trees

Undergraduate students in the UNC Greensboro School of Education (SOE) can now take advantage of new support services thanks to the launch of the SOE Academic Support Hub. The center is the combined work of the SOE Office of Student Success, Michel Family Teaching Resources Center (TRC), Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education, Department of Specialized Education Services, and Department of Library and Information Science.

The hub, which launched this semester, is currently offering Praxis Core preparation sessions and tutoring in American Sign Language, but will expand to include preparation for the Pearson Reading Test and Foundations of Reading exam, as well as tutoring for students in Math 112 and LIS courses.

Said Dr. Randy Penfield, Dean of the School of Education, “Through the combined efforts of our School of Education faculty and staff, we feel that the new Academic Support Hub fulfills a desire from our students for further tools to help them be successful. This hub will provide something for undergraduate students in any of our departments. We are dedicated to helping our students be as prepared as possible to begin their careers when they graduate from UNCG.”

While the School of Education prides itself on developing some of the best teachers, librarians, interpreters, principals, and counselors in the state of North Carolina, the hub will help to even better prepare those students to be successful in their chosen field.
