The mission of the School of Education Office of Student Success and Advising is to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services that assist students with accessing higher education through enrollment and fulfilling their academic and career goals in the education profession. Through our equity-minded advising, we are preparing the next generation of educators and service providers to be catalysts of positive change within and across local, regional, national, and global communities. In an effort to help our students succeed, we integrate recruitment, advising, scholarships, internships/placements, career counseling and workshops.
In addition, we support our students through licensure with semester programs such as professional Haggai Academy seminars, SOE Connections, Education Ambassadors, student organizations, Praxis Core workshops, cross-departmental mathematics, and early year initiatives for first year students and sophomores. Through formative and summative assessments, we monitor students’ progress in developing core competencies for teacher education careers. These strategic programming efforts ensure effective support for student success in the program and beyond.
In the Office of Student Success (OSS), we value the unique opportunity we have, to build a close relationship with our School of Education students. These relationships help to ensure that our students are on the right path toward graduation. Our knowledgeable and experienced OSS staff support the success of all our students by ensuring that they develop a thorough knowledge of degree and licensure requirements for all School of Education and Secondary majors, to include licensure-only programs.
Walk-ins are available on Tuesdays from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
