School of Education

In the Office of Student Success (OSS), we value the unique opportunity we have, to build a close relationship with our School of Education students. These relationships help to ensure that our students are on the right path toward graduation.

Our knowledgeable and experienced OSS staff support the success of all our students by ensuring that they develop a thorough knowledge of degree and licensure requirements for all School of Education and Secondary majors, to include licensure-only programs.

walk-ins

Walk-ins are available on Tuesdays from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm during the summer.

During the academic year, walk-ins are available on Tuesdays from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Thursdays from 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Appointments with staff can be set up through email, phone, or Starfish.

Advising

Using a developmental advising model by which students learn how to review and understand their degree and state licensure requirements.

Licensure

All professional employees in public schools must hold a license for the subject or grade level they teach or for the professional education assignment that they hold.

Placements & Clinical Experiences

Clinical experiences, including both early field experiences and student teaching, are a critical part of professional preparation programs.

Scholarships & Funding

Our goal is for every student in the School of Education (SOE) to be able to focus on their studies and not on student debt. A variety of financial aid is available to our students, including scholarships based on academic merit and financial need.

Committed to the Success of our Students

Fulfilling a desire from our undergraduate students for further tools to help them be successful, the Academic Support Hub provides additional supports for School of Education students by offering tutoring services in a variety of areas. Students can obtain extra assistance in ASL, Math 112, and in preparing for Praxis exams.

UNC GREENSBORO STUDENT NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATORS

SNCAE is a professional organization for college students preparing to become teachers. UNC Greensboro student members can coordinate, volunteer, and plan education activities during campus events such as the annual Children’s Festival and serve as reading volunteers at the local elementary schools.

STUDENT COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN

UNC Greensboro is host to a student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children, the foremost professional organization for service to children with disabilities. Led by active and involved students from the fields of specialized education services, volunteerism and service to individuals with special needs is a major goal of the organization. Members also have extensive opportunities for professional development through attendance at local, state, and national conferences.
