Stacy Huff, who earned a Master’s in Educational Assessment, Evaluation, and Research in 2022 and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Research Methodology, was the big winner at UNC Greensboro’s recent Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Huff claimed both first place and the People’s Choice award in the annual event.

The 3MT is a contest in which participants have just three minutes and one static PowerPoint slide to present their master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation to a panel of non-specialist judges. They are assessed on comprehension and content as well as engagement and communication. The contest was founded by the University of Queensland in Australia in 2008.

Huff, who is a student in the Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences, showcased her work on Exploring Compassion Fatigue in Program Evaluation. She will now attend the Southeastern 3MT challenge in Dallas, Texas this spring.

This year’s competition featured 10 finalists from across campus. Along with Huff, the School of Education was represented by Terry Chavis (Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education) whose work was entitled From Whose Point of View? A Phenomenological Investigation of Epistemological Relations With Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Traditional STEM Curriculum and Pedagogy.
