CLASS OF 2024: HANNAH WARD SAYS YES TO OPPORTUNITY

Stepping onto campus as a first-year student and Teacher Education Fellow, Hannah Ward had a mission: make her hometown of Morganton, North Carolina proud and major in music. Through her fellowship and the Lloyd International Honors College (LIHC), Ward soon encountered mentors, opportunities, and experiences that took her down paths she had not considered and helped her discover her true calling: teaching English.

UNCG Alumna Emerges as a Library Leader

Dawn Shirk ’23, a library media specialist with Guilford County Schools, says that a school library is the heart of the institution. “When I was a teacher, I collaborated with the librarian a lot. Even if we weren’t in the middle of a specific project, I could come in and say, ‘Here’s what I’m planning. Can you help me find some good books or websites? How would you do this?’”

ELC Holds Successful Critical Conversations Conference

The Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations (ELC) in UNC Greensboro’s School of Education hosted its annual Critical Conversations Conference (CCC) on March 16, 2024. This year, conference attendees enjoyed a plethora of workshops that centered on the theme “Equity Driven Leadership: Reflection, Connection, and Action.”

In rankings released by U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday, April 9, the UNC Greensboro School of Education (SOE) ranks in a tie for 86th nationally among Graduate Schools of Education for 2024-2025. Within the state of North Carolina, the UNCG SOE holds the fourth-highest ranking in the same category.
