Our advanced degree programs are for practicing teachers who already hold a teaching license. The coursework in these degree programs move beyond practice and delve into theory and research. 

Master of Education (M.Ed.)

These programs are for practicing teachers and lead to advanced (M-Level) licensure. 

M.Ed., Concentration in Elementary Mathematics Education

The Master’s of Education in Teacher Education with a concentration in Elementary Mathematics program is designed for licensed practicing elementary teachers. Our 100% online program integrates research on students’ mathematical thinking with research progress in core mathematics instructional practices to support teachers in developing a vision of high-quality mathematics instruction that leads to improved learning for all students.

M.Ed., Concentration in Middle/Secondary Mathematics Education

The Master of Education (Middle/Secondary Mathematics Concentration) is a 33-hour program that can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis. All classes are offered in the evening or in the summer to accommodate graduate students who are classroom teachers.

M.Ed., Concentration in Middle/Secondary Social Studies Education

The Master of Education in Middle/Secondary Social Studies program is for students who hold an undergraduate degree and are currently teaching social studies at the middle or high school level. The program satisfies the requirements for M-Level state licensure.

M.Ed., Concentration in K-12 Science Education

The Master’s of Education in Teacher Education with a concentration in K-12 Science Education program supports current teachers to become instructional leaders in science education. The course of study is designed for an in-depth exploration of issues related to curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, research, and content for science education. The program emphasizes equitable, engaging, rigorous, and responsive science, engineering, and environmental education for all students.

M.Ed., Concentration in K-12 Literacy Education

The mission of the online Literacy Education Program is to prepare teacher leaders who advocate for and seek to integrate theory, research, and practice; engage in reflection, research, and professional collaborations; and offer culturally relevant, learner-centered opportunities for every student to develop the literacy skills needed in the 21st century.

M.Ed., Concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL)

The Master of Education in Teacher Education with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language program is designed to prepare experienced teachers with critical knowledge, skills, and dispositions in action research, professional development, and leadership to work effectively with multilingual learners in both local and global contexts.

Doctor of Philosophy (ph.D.)

Ph.D. in Educational Studies, Concentration in teacher Education and Development

Our Ph.D. programs give students the opportunity to work with faculty members who are renowned scholars in their fields of study. In the Ph.D. program, students will take courses in theory and methodology, as well as engage in research projects that will eventually lead to a dissertation. Graduates of our Ph.D. program typically become faculty at institutions of higher education; however, some take positions within K-12 school district administrations or remain in the classroom.
