We are pleased to announce that Tammy Gruer will be joining the Department of Library and Information Studies on August 1st, 2018.  Tammy Gruer is National Board Certified and will be Clinical Assistant Professor and coordinator for the Practicum in School Library Media, and will teach Materials for Children and School Library Media Specialist and the Curriculum.  A 24 year veteran of Guilford County Schools (GCS), Tammy has served as classroom teacher, school level library media coordinator, district library media and technology specialist, and most recently the Director of Library Media Services. She provided professional development to GCS Library Media Coordinators (SLMCs) and was integral in implementing many district initiatives including the one to one initiative for middle schools. Tammy has presented at numerous conferences, including, NCTies and NCSLMA. In her leadership role in GCS, she designed and implemented the library instruction program and trained SLMC’s in instructional theory, technology integration and methods. Tammy earned her MLIS and BS in Education from UNC Greensboro.
