Why Did you Choose UNCG?

I chose to attend UNCG because I felt very welcomed and knew this was a place where I could be me. I also wanted the college experience, but didn’t want to go too far away from the home that I love!

What is your favorite place on campus?

I love to go to the top of parking decks and look across the campus. The views are very refreshing!

What activities and organizations are you involved in on campus?

My favorite activities include being physically active and playing piano. I love to do just about anything in the Kaplan Center, whether thats basketball, dancing, swimming, rock climbing, weightlifting, running, or even trying something new. I also love to find a nice flat grassy area and do flips.

What experience at UNCG has had the most significant impact on you?

Learning who is really in my corner. Friends come and go, and I learned that the hard way. I met a lot of people here, but the ones who are truly friends and family always reveal themselves over time and have your back no matter what.

What has been your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was TED 160 – Learning Through Making with Matt Fisher (the very best!) This class allowed us to become kids again and let our creativity run free. We made cool things out of cardboard and learned many other skills like laser engraving, 3D printing, coding, and stop motion. If you love being creative and making things, take a class with Matt Fisher!

What are your career goals?

I want to positively impact as many children as I can! I strive to create lifelong learners and to make sure every child knows that they matter and they are seen and heard.

What made you want to choose a career in This Field?

I want to be like the teachers who had an everlasting impact on me. I want to give to others what I was given.

What advice would you give a student considering UNCG and the School of Education?

Consider no more! We warmly welcome you and hope to see you soon!

How has the Spartan Education Scholars Program Impacted Your Experience at UNCG?

Being a part of the Spartan Educators Scholars has allowed me to meet teachers from all over the world. It has also given me connections to other future educators who are aspiring for the same goals, but are all different. The scholarship has also helped cover my tuition which has allowed me to work less and focus on my studies more. The program is great and, if you are looking into education, you should definitely apply.

If you are a School of Education student who would like to participate in our Spartan Voices series, please complete this form.
