IPiE connects educators, leaders, and researchers to co-create solutions for public education. We build long-term, trust-based partnerships that break down silos and improve lives through learning.
At IPiE, we believe collaboration—not transactions—leads to lasting impact. We connect educators, leaders, and students to tackle challenges and redesign systems that serve every learner.
Explore how we’re working across boundaries to shape the future of education.
Our Vision
Across districts, universities, and organizations, passionate educators are transforming lives through learning. But how can we elevate our systems to better serve all learners?
The Institute for Partnerships in Education (IPiE) at UNC Greensboro invites you to explore this question—by understanding, challenging, and evolving our educational systems.
How we work:
- We leverage one another’s strengths and expertise in new ways. We look for partners who will challenge and learn alongside us.
- We seek collaborations, not transactional exchanges of services. We take the time to get to know each other and identify how we can support each other’s work. Genuinely understanding each other’s goals and how they connect to our common purpose enables us to have the greatest impact.
- We build relationships that evolve and adapt, relationships that are responsive to and supportive of our partners’ contexts, responsibilities, and challenges.
- We balance reflection with action. The process of developing lasting solutions to persistent problems of educational practice is complex — as complex as the systems in which we live and work. We create space for reflection and deliberation to better understand educational challenges and connect leaders with expertise to develop useful and timely solutions.
- We recognize that partners have complementary knowledge and expertise. Working across organizational boundaries in close relationships makes it possible to solve all kinds of challenges we cannot solve alone.

Innovation starts with partnership
Join us in shaping the future of education
IPiE brings together educators, leaders, and organizations to tackle the complex challenges of education and create meaningful change. By fostering collaboration across boundaries, we provide spaces for dialogue that explore how educational systems work, how to navigate and transform them, and how to ensure every learner and educator has the support to thrive. Through shared inquiry and innovation, we connect expertise with needs, pool resources, and generate timely knowledge to inform decisions. Our work creates opportunities to build sustainable partnerships, develop experiential learning for UNCG students, and design solutions that strengthen education for all communities.

Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment
UNCG’s TEACH Program prepares high school students to become future educators through dual enrollment with local school districts. Students earn both high school and college credit, complete foundational coursework, and can continue at UNCG to earn a teaching license. In partnership with Asheboro City Schools and Randolph Community College, students also work toward an associate’s degree while building a strong path into teacher education.
Heritage Language Academy
Heritage Language Academy
HLA is a Saturday program co-led by UNCG’s TESOL program and Asheboro City Schools, engaging Spanish-speaking students and families in heritage language and cultural projects. ACS educators lead the sessions, while UNCG teacher candidates participate through service-learning. The program builds dual capacity in educators and families to support multilingual education.
Real World English
Real World English
Real World English is a free, culturally responsive program offering practical English instruction for adult learners at four levels—Basic 1, Basic 2, Intermediate, and Advanced. Since 2015, we’ve partnered with UNCG and Allen Middle School to provide inclusive, student-centered learning for adults and STEAM activities for children ages 2–14. We welcome all backgrounds and promote cross-cultural understanding in a safe, supportive environment.
Gate City Writes
Gate City Writes
Gate City Writes connects K–12 students and educators with UNCG faculty in a collaborative writing community. Through summer camps and workshops, students (grades 3–12), recent immigrants, and refugees write and publish original work while learning language and culture. GCW also offers professional development for teachers to write and teach alongside their students—bridging research and classroom practice.
