Congratulations to Dr. Jon Henner!  He has been selected to receive the 2022 Early Career Publication Award of the Special Interest Group for Research in Mathematics Education.

This award is for his publication which was written with fellow faculty member Dr. Claudia Pagliaro, “Counting Differently: Assessing Mathematics Achievement of Signing Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children Through a Unique Lens,” published in American Annals of the Deaf in 2021.

The SIG-RME 2022 Early Career Publication Selection Committee received several quality nominations, and the nominees and publications were outstanding. The review committee was impressed with his manuscript and feel that it is very deserving of this award. In particular, the committee was impressed with the quality of the research and writing, as well as the significant impact that this manuscript can have on the field of mathematics education and across fields.
