ILRS Department New Home for Master’s of Science in Informatics and Analytics

Beginning this fall, UNC Greensboro’s Master’s of Science in Informatics and Analytics (MSIA) will be housed within the School of Education’s Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences (ILRS). The program was previously housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Computer Science.

Dr. Noah Lenstra sits in a uniquely shaped wooden reading nook between two bookshelves in a library. He is smiling, holding an open book, and wearing a dark suit, a bright orange t-shirt with a colorful logo, and red sneakers. The scene is well-lit and framed by rows of books on either side.

Libraries, For Your Health

Libraries can transform communities locally and globally, says Dr. Noah Lenstra. Wherever you are, even if you don’t have a car or access to public transportation, there’s a good chance you can get to a public library.

MLIS Student Jen Miller Continues to Impact Library Community

A local librarian is turning the page on lost book fees thanks to donations from a community of book lovers. With the end of the school year just days away, it’s a race against time to get books back on the shelves and clear student debt.

Peter Turner sits in a wooden rocking chair in front of a colorful mural featuring books and buildings. He is holding a children's book titled Following Me, Moon! by Darren Farrell. Three more children's books—Children Make Terrible Pets, Thank You, Octopus, and an unidentified green creature mask—are placed on the floor next to him. The background includes a large illustrated book with a child reading and a turtle nearby.

All the World’s a Stage for Librarian Peter Turner

Storytelling has long been used as a tool to educate and entertain. At the Greensboro Central Library, that tradition is embraced and practiced daily by Peter Turner – who has served as the branch’s children’s librarian for going on 10 years.
