SOE Mourns Passing of Dr. Lloyd Bond

As the 2023-2024 school year begins, the UNC Greensboro School of Education has announced the merger of the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) and the Department of Educational Research Methodology (ERM). The joined unit will be known as the Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences (ILRS).
Three School of Education students walked away with honors at the completion of the annual Graduate Research and Creativity Showcase held by the UNC Greensboro Graduate School on Tuesday, April 4. Earning recognition were Chibor Chibor (Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education), Paula Hernandez (Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations), and Natasha Monteith (Department of Educational Research Methodology).
Dr. Aileen Reid has earned many impressive academic titles throughout her career, including program evaluator, assistant professor in the Educational Research Methodology Department, and co-director of the STEM Program Evaluation Lab.
When schools moved to remote status during the height of the COVID pandemic, numerous students were unable to fully participate in classes due to the lack of broadband internet access at their homes. Backed by a grant from the United States Department of Education, three members of the School of Education are joining a team led by UNC Greensboro’s Information Technology Services (ITS) unit to combat that issue.
UNC Greensboro researchers and their collaborators have received approximately $500,000 to study the impacts of COVID on student learning. The funding is part of the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and North Carolina Collaboratory’s $6.73 million investment in 20 projects rooted at universities across North Carolina.
Seven graduate students from UNC Greensboro’s Department of Educational Research and Methodology (ERM) were able to make a total of four presentations at the Canadian Evaluation Society’s (CES) 2022 Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba in June. The group was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sandra Ayoo.
