The Emergent Voices in Evaluation (EViE) Conference is a graduate student-led conference that is intended to serve as a catalyst in promoting interdisciplinary scholarship between emerging graduate-student evaluators in the southeastern United States. This conference provides an opportunity for graduate student evaluators to present original work, engage in dialogue about evaluation theory and practice and network with fellow emerging evaluators and academics in the region.
The 2025 conference will be held May 22-23 with the theme of AI and the Future of Evaluation: Navigating Challenges, Leveraging Opportunities. This year, we are at a critical juncture, examining the profound impact of AI technologies that redefine our roles and responsibilities. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of evaluation, offering new tools and methodologies while raising critical ethical, practical, and philosophical questions. As emerging evaluators, we are uniquely positioned to explore how AI can enhance evaluation practices while addressing the challenges of its use.
Proposals for this year’s event are currently being collected. The deadline to submit a proposal is March 16 at 11:56 p.m.
This conference was inspired by the Edward F. Kelly evaluation conference, a graduate student conference that promoted collaboration between students and faculty at various universities in central Canada and upstate New York, including: the University of Ottawa; the University of Toronto; Queen’s University; Cornell University; Syracuse; and the University at Albany.
