UNC Greensboro School of Education Dean Dr. Morgan Chitiyo has been selected as a recipient of the Africa Leadership Award from Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom. The honor will be presented at the 1st Africa Leadership Summit & Awards program scheduled for October 8-10 in Accra, Ghana.
Global Skills Hub selected Dr. Chitiyo for his visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, ability to inspire others, dedication to community development, and professional integrity.
The theme of the conference is “Building Influence through Personal Leadership” and seeks to recognize outstanding individuals whose leadership, influence, vision, integrity, and commitment to positive societal impact have inspired and transformed lives within their communities, organizations, and beyond.
Earlier this semester, Dr. Chitiyo welcomed North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, who toured the School of Education Building and talked with students. Stein mentioned that he had taught in Chitiyo’s native Zimbabwe.
Prior to his appointment as Dean in May, Dr. Chitiyo served as the Interim Dean of the School of Education since January 2025 and Professor of Special Education and Chair of the Department of Specialized Education Services (SES), roles he had held since 2020.
