Why Did you Choose UNCG?

I chose it because of the inclusive curriculum. Additionally, I liked the size and cohort model.

What experience at UNCG has had the most significant impact on you?

As a Jackson Network Scholar, I had the opportunity to travel to two UCEA Annual Conventions (Minneapolis and Los Angeles). I got to network with experts in the field of Educational Leadership and other doctoral students. I presented my dissertation proposal in Los Angeles. Through the connections I made at these conventions, I co-authored a piece for a scholarly journal and will present at AERA.

What has been your favorite class and why?

Educational Sociology with Dr. (Silvia) Bettez. This course pushed me to think critically about the world around me. I still go back to the readings as I am writing my dissertation.

What are your career goals?

Educational leadership in higher education.

What made you want to choose a career in This Field?

I will always be a teacher, from middle school to doctoral level. I love being in the classroom.

What advice would you give a student considering UNCG and the School of Education?

Be open-minded and be prepared to think critically.
