Beginning this fall, UNC Greensboro’s Master’s of Science in Informatics and Analytics (MSIA) will be housed within the School of Education’s Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences (ILRS). The program was previously housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Computer Science.
The MSIA program, which was ranked among the top 25 Best Online Master’s in Analytics Degree Programs by TechGuide in 2024, includes six interdisciplinary courses that establish a strong foundation in data science principles. In addition to the core program, students learn research and big data skills related to natural language processing, internet of things, machine learning, bioinformatics, health informatics, and cultural analytics.
ILRS Department Chair Lisa O’Connor said, “The expertise of the Informatics and Analytics faculty crosses over with our current BSIS, MLIS, and ERM programs. This program allows us to extend our curriculum and research by adding expertise in data analytics, bioinformatics, cultural analytics, and AI.”
The MSIA program currently enrolls over 70 students.
