Dr. Laura Gonzalez, Associate Professor of Education in the Higher Education Program (Teacher Education and Higher Education department), was selected as one of two Engaged Faculty Fellows by North Carolina Campus Compact. Congratulations!

Throughout this year, Dr. Gonzalez will create a guidebook specifically for K-12 school staff who work with students with various immigration statuses. It will include personal narratives from people in the school system to help raise awareness of these experiences while nurturing empathy among teachers and administrators.

This work builds off her community-engaged scholarship with the Latino Community Coalition of Guilford and other partners. Learn more about Dr. Gonzalez’s work here.
