The online Master’s of Library and Information Science program in the University of North Carolina Greensboro School of Education’s Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences has been ranked the ninth-best program in the nation and the top one in North Carolina.

Information Science Students Receive Real-World Experience in Class Project

Students in Dr. Izzet Lofca’s Information Organization 3 class in the UNC Greensboro School of Education’s Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences recently had the opportunity for a hands-on learning experience by working with Microchip Technology to crawl the company’s website, produce a sentiment analysis, and develop FAQ documents.

Dawkins Awarded Grant to Assist Libraries Develop Community Relationships

Looking to help train library practitioners and organizations in techniques for community collaboration and civic engagement along with professional soft skills not typically addressed in Library and Information Science curriculum, Dr. April Dawkins in UNC Greensboro’s Department of Library, Information, and Research Sciences and Dr. Lucy Santos Green of the University of Iowa have been awarded a nearly $250,000 grant for a two-year project.

SOE Announces New Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences

As the 2023-2024 school year begins, the UNC Greensboro School of Education has announced the merger of the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) and the Department of Educational Research Methodology (ERM). The joined unit will be known as the Department of Information, Library, and Research Sciences (ILRS).

Kat Robinson spent many years as a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, who are enrolled in the North Carolina Virtual Academy and complete schoolwork at home. A suggestion from one of her son’s teachers sent her down a new path.

School of Education Students Claim Awards at Annual Graduate Research and Creativity Showcase

Three School of Education students walked away with honors at the completion of the annual Graduate Research and Creativity Showcase held by the UNC Greensboro Graduate School on Tuesday, April 4. Earning recognition were Chibor Chibor (Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education), Paula Hernandez (Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations), and Natasha Monteith (Department of Educational Research Methodology).

New Academic Support Hub to Provide Services to SOE Students

Undergraduate students in the UNC Greensboro School of Education can now take advantage of new support services thanks to the launch of the SOE Academic Support Hub. The center is the combined work of the SOE Office of Student Success, Michel Family Teaching Resources Center, Department of Teacher Education and Higher Education, Department of Specialized Education Services, and Department of Library and Information Science.
