What happens when cardboard robots and movies come together? You have a short documentary film that was showcased at the 2025 North Carolina Film Festival in New Bern on Saturday, August 2. The film was one of three featured in the Best in Category: Documentary at the festival.
Matt Fisher, the mind behind the Cardboard Robot Parade that has taken place during UNC Greensboro’s Science Everywhere Festival each of the past two years, developed the idea as part of his Good Human Project. During that project, Fisher leads his students “through the process of creating simple art projects to give away to people to show appreciation.”
Fisher said, “The Cardboard Robot Parade was a way to create an immense amount of creativity, happiness, and joy at one moment for families and children.”
Wil Davis, a UNCG Film Studies graduate and current instructor, worked with Fisher to create the 15-minute documentary and has entered the film into festivals across the country.
