Dr. Jennifer Deaton, a faculty member in the UNC Greensboro department of Counseling and Educational Development (CED) has been accepted into the five-member cohort of the 2022 American Evaluation Association’s (AEA) Minority Serving Institution (MSI) Fellowship Program

The MSI Fellowship is intended to increase the diversity of the professional and cultural input to evaluation practice, theory, and inquiry by identifying faculty from minority-serving institutions to participate in a year-long experience to impact teaching and the development of courses and programs that more fully incorporate evaluation.

Deaton said, “As a member of the 2022-23 fellowship program, I plan to couple my hands-on experiences with further training to augment my experiences and current responsibilities with the theoretical underpinnings, methodology, and key tenets of evaluation through the MSI Fellowship Program.”

Deaton added that she hopes the program will allow her to “further inform my role as the chair of the CED Outcomes and Assessment Committee, which conducts our annual program evaluation… I hope to design an elective course specifically for program evaluation within counselor education, while enriching my current teaching. This experiential, immersive course would focus on building evaluation plans and logic models alongside program design unique to their interests and career trajectories.”
