TUTORING! What do you think of when you hear the word tutoring?  The term is common and many of us have some experience with tutoring, whether it be personal experiences in school, outside of school in informal spaces, or with our own children.  When you think of those experiences, you may picture working with a tutor, one-on-one, after school at the library or online.  But what if tutoring was built into the school day to enable access to tutoring for all students by breaking down the barriers of cost, travel, and access?

The Tutoring Collaborative was created to provide access to tutoring services built into the school day to create more equitable learning spaces for every learner, every educator, and every education leader. Most recently, The Tutoring Collaborative is building bridges to our rural districts and thinking of ways we can better partner with smaller, rural districts to provide access to tutoring services. Elise Robertson and Megan Martin, Program Coordinators with IPiE, presented at the annual North Carolina Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Fall Forum around this work and what it means to build sustainable tutoring programs in rural districts.  Other members of the IPiE team also presented at NCACTE around other programs within the Institute.  For more information on tutoring or to start a conversation about how to build a program in your district, reach out to Dr. Megan Martin or Elise Robertson at ipie-tutoring@uncg.edu
