Featured Image for Strengthening Futures: The Partnership Between UNCG and Asheboro City Schools Dual Enrollment Program

In an exciting development for education in North Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) has partnered with Asheboro City Schools to enhance the Dual Enrollment Program. This collaboration aims to provide high school students with a unique opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school, setting them on a path to academic and professional success.

This semester’s course is instructed by IPiE staff member Elise Robertson, a dedicated educator making a significant impact on high school students in Asheboro. She is known for her innovative teaching methods and her commitment to student success. Elise’s approach to education emphasizes hands-on learning and real-world applications, which helps her students engage deeply with the material and develop critical thinking skills.

Most recently, her students created vision boards about why they want to become teachers. These students took time to reflect on their aspirations, values, and the impact they hope to make in the field of education. As a group, vision boards were presented during class, which help to create a sense of community as they share their dreams and support each other’s journeys toward becoming educators.
