UNC Greensboro’s School of Education (SOE) continued to be well-recognized by U.S. News & World Report in rankings released on Tuesday, January 27. The SOE has been rated No. 36 among the 2026 Best Online Master’s in Education Programs (third in the state of North Carolina), No. 12 among the 2026 Best Online Master’s in Special Education Programs (tied for first in the state), and No. 16 among the 2026 Best Online Master’s in Education Programs for Veterans (second in the state).
U.S. News evaluated schools in the Master’s in Education based on a variety of factors, such as student engagement, faculty credentials, and services and technologies.

In its 14th year, the U.S. News Best Online Programs is designed for individuals looking to complete or further their education. This year’s edition evaluates more than 1,600 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs using metrics specific to online learning. The rankings only include degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.
