We aim to conduct interdisciplinary, community-engaged research that supports helping professionals working with client trauma. We focus our efforts towards trauma-informed, intervention and support to the helping professional will improve client outcomes.

Who are Helping Professionals?
Our research supports professionals who are indirectly exposed to trauma within their work. This includes a wide variety of disciplines: counselors, social workers, psychologists, teachers, interpreters, and medical professionals.

ETIPP Project
ETIPP Project
Led by Dr. Jennifer D. Deaton and Dr. L. DiAnne Borders, Extending the Trauma Informed Professional Pipeline (ETIPP), aims to increase the number of trauma-informed mental health counselors by extending the reach of a trauma-informed professional pipeline to mental health counseling professionals working with underserved CAYs in designated health professional shortage areas. ETIPP will:
(a) expand and enhance experiential training opportunities for clinical mental health counseling students working with underserved CAYs in designated health professional shortage areas by 20%,
(b) increase the number of trauma-informed clinical supervisors working with trainees and novice counselors by 20%, and
(c) expand the professional pipeline of highly trained, trauma-informed counselors to underserved communities by supporting graduates to obtain employment. Total funding amount of $988,860.

Led by Dr. Carrie Wachter Morris, School Counseling Access, Leadership, and Equity: Upgrading the Pipeline (SCALE UP),is a school-based mental health partnership builds upon a strong foundation, extending the success of the ACTIVATE-PLUS partnership between Rockingham County Schools (RCS), a high-need, rural LEA, and the Department of Counseling and Educational Development (CED) at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro (UNCG). M.O.R.E. Research team facilitates the program evaluation as a part of the Department of Education funded project.
