Dr. Morgan Chitiyo
Interim Dean, School of Education

As SES chair over the past five years, Dr. Morgan Chitiyo has successfully supported enrollment though marketing and fostering district partnerships, worked with an innovative and collaborative spirit in identifying solutions to challenges as they emerged, and has been dedicated to supporting the faculty, staff, and students of the department. Prior to joining UNCG, Chitiyo was a faculty member in Duquesne University’s School of Education where he served as director of the Special Education Program and chair of the Department of Counseling, Psychology, and Special Education.

An internationally recognized scholar, his research focuses on positive behavior supports, autism, inclusive education, and special education professional development. Chitiyo has advanced international special education through teacher preparation initiatives and serves as editor of the Journal of International Special Needs Education. His accolades include the 2019 Tennessee Tech Distinguished Alumni Award and the 2017 Duquesne Presidential Award for Excellence in Service.
