Michel Family Teaching Resources Center (TRC)
Located in Room 310 of the School of Education Building, the Michel Family Teaching Resources Center (TRC) provides instructional materials, equipment, and services that support the students, faculty, and staff of the School of Education, the UNC Greensboro campus, and teachers throughout the Piedmont Triad.
The TRC serves as a model school library media center offering a large collection of picture books, young adult fiction, nonfiction, audiobooks, board books, big books, kits, manipulatives and DVD’s. We also have professional resources useful in preparing lesson plans, all K-12 state adopted textbooks, and study guides for NC teacher exams.
Patrons are asked to consume food and drink in the lounge area only.
Our Resources
In the TRC, you will find a quality collection of award-winning children’s literature including picture books, young adult fiction, PK-12 nonfiction, biographies, audiobooks, DVDs, big books, and leveled readers. Materials on reserve can be accessed at the main desk. The TRC classroom in room 302 houses K-12 state-adopted textbooks, SES resources, science curriculum materials and math manipulatives.
Books can be renewed online.
Test Preparation (PRAXIS)
The Teaching Resources Center provides access to test preparation materials for the Praxis I Core Academic Skills tests required for admission into Teacher Education, and the Praxis II and Pearson Tests required for licensure.
Praxis II Testing – for middle grades (6-9), secondary (9-12), K-12 (except Exceptional Children: General Curriculum) license areas.
Pearson Test for North Carolina: Foundations of Reading and General Curriculum – for Elementary Education and Exceptional Children: General Curriculum licenses only.
Print Study Guides for each of these tests are available for checkout in the TRC.
A variety of equipment and instructional technology resources are available for School of Education students, faculty, and staff. These resources include laptops, iPads, video cameras, cameras, tripods, digital voice recorders, headsets with mics, and other items. Equipment may be checked out for one week.
Equipment cannot be renewed online. Please see a TRC staff member or email [email protected] to renew equipment. If equipment is needed by another user, you will not be able to renew.
The TRC provides a subscription to this online resource to support the print collection.
TumbleBook Library
The TBL is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation), TumbleTV which consists of pre-set playlists of a sequence of books, Tumble Puzzles & Games, and TumbleResources for teachers and students., including a Common Core Portal.

Our Services
The Teaching Resources Center provides materials to help pre-service and in-service educators plan and teach lessons. Our staff is available to help patrons locate resources.
Faculty members may request TRC tours or orientations, instructional sessions, and bibliographies of TRC resources on specific topics.
K-12 educators in the Piedmont Triad Community have free borrowing privileges at the TRC. Please bring a work ID with you to Jackson Library set up a library account for access to the TRC print materials.
The TRC provides the following services, at low or no cost, to UNCG students, faculty, and staff. TRC staff members are available to assist with these services. Payments may be made with your Spartan Card (Spartan Cash only).
Computers and Printing
Computers are located in room 312. Use your Spartan Card for printing.
Poster Printer
Full color posters 24 in X 36 in. – $10.00-$15.00 each
Foam board mounting – additional $15.00
Original Poster (save as a pdf) can be submitted for printing via the request form link below. Please allow 48 hours for printing. The TRC cannot guarantee the quality of any poster printed using low resolution images, alternate file formats, or non-standard poster sizes. The TRC cannot print copyrighted materials. See TRC staff for assistance.
Laminators
Letter Size (9X12) – $.50 per sheet
Legal Size (9X14.5) – $.75 per sheet
Menu Size (12X18) – $1.00 per sheet
Roll Laminator (for oversized items such as posters up to 24 inches wide) – $1.00 per foot
Ellison Machines
Easily cut shapes and letters for posters or bulletin boards. It’s free, just bring your own paper.
Book Binder – $1.00 each
Also available in room 312 – drink and snack machines, microwave, tables, paper cutter, hole punch, pencil sharpener and staplers.

Books from the TRC may be returned at any indoor or outdoor book drop across campus. - Equipment Requests

Committed to the Success of our Students
Fulfilling a desire from our undergraduate students for further tools to help them be successful, the Academic Support Hub provides additional supports for School of Education students by offering tutoring services in a variety of areas. Students can obtain extra assistance in ASL, Math 112, CSC 120, and in preparing for Praxis exams.
