This rural area lacks widespread Internet access and there is no Wi-Fi. 15% of the population is below 15K in annual income. Students without home Internet access have lower assessment scores in reading, math and science. To address these issues, this project aims provide Wi-Fi in this area’s local community center.

What is the project’s goal?

Expand digital inclusion to the residents of this area. Digital inclusion is essential for education, access to services, and economic development.

What is the innovation?

Installation of wireless access point at community center, which allows for homework completion and community engagement, helping to provide students the opportunity to achieve educational goals.

What has been the impact?

Chief Travis V. Collins reports, “This service is already being utilized by a few families that home school their children and normally would have to make a trip into the neighboring towns with are approximately 13-15 miles away.”
