The School of Education’s Office of Research, Discovery, and Innovation, in collaboration with Impact Through Innovation, is pleased to invite nominations for the ITI Paula and Rick Short Graduate Student Innovation Fellowship

Innovation Fellowship

This fellowship is open to all full-time graduate students in the School of Education. The selected fellow will be engaged in research or scholarly work that advances an innovative solution to a real-world problem, with strong potential for implementation in practical settings.

Application Requirements

Interested graduate students should submit a letter of interest that includes:

  • A description of their current research or scholarly work.
  • An explanation of the educational problem they aim to address.
  • A clear description of the innovative solution being pursued.
  • A statement on how the fellowship funds will support the development or enhancement of a process or product that can improve the lives of others.

If you have a Dissertation or Thesis Committee in place, please also include a brief letter of support from your Chair.

  • Deadline: Friday, September 19th by 5:00 p.m.
  • Submit to: Dr. Scott Young at jsyoung3@uncg.edu

Fellowship Details

  • The selected fellow will receive a $2,000 stipend to support their work.
  • The fellowship term is one year.
  • The fellow will receive mentorship from the Office of Research, Discovery, and Innovation and Innovate UNCG.
  • The fellow’s work may be featured in an upcoming School of Education Newsletter.

A review committee composed of SOE faculty actively engaged in innovation will evaluate submissions and select the recipient.
