Harrison, Hogan Named Recipients of 2023 Smiley Award

The Smiley Award, which supports global educational opportunities for current School of Education undergraduate and graduate students, has been presented to undergraduate student Dauria Harrison and graduate student Kevin Hogan. These students will represent the SOE as Global Education Ambassadors through international or local engagement.


UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program Leads to Increased Opportunities, Scholarships for Students

Developing high-quality and well-prepared teachers is a priority for the School of Education at UNC Greensboro. Doing so by reducing potential financial barriers for students is also key. By combining these priorities, the School of Education developed the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows program, a scholarship opportunity for incoming freshmen students wishing to major in select education programs.


SOE Students Earn Honors at UNCG 3MT Competition

A pair of School of Education students took home honors in UNC Greensboro’s recent Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Claiming first place was Somer Matthews, a doctoral student in the Department of Specialized Education Services (SES), while Jasmine Garland McKinney, a doctoral student in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development (CED) earned the People’s Choice honor.


Ryndak Honored for Career of Service

Dr. Diane Ryndak, a professor in UNC Greensboro’s Department of Specialized Education Services , has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 June Downing Breakthroughs in Inclusive Education Award presented by TASH, an international leader in disability advocacy.


Council for Exceptional Children Adds Holzberg to Board; Pair to Present at Convention

Dr. Debra Holzberg will serve on the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Executive Board as Publications and Communications Chair for the Division of Learning Disabilities (DLD). Holzberg and Dr. Julie Irene Bost will also be presenting at the 2023 CEC Convention and Expo in March of 2023. Both Holzberg and Bost are Clinical Assistant Professors in the UNC Greensboro School of Education’s Department of Specialized Education Services.
