Specialized Education Services (SES)

Bree Jimenez (Assistant Professor- SES) & Megan Kemmary (Graduate Student – SES) are currently conducting a single-subject, multiple probe across 3 classrooms, study in Rockingham and Guilford County. They are investigating the effects of the Early Numeracy Skills Builder lesson plan package on the math achievement of students with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities.  The approach employed in this study suggests that students should receive intensive instruction in the elementary grades in beginning mathematics with opportunities to apply these skills in adaptations of grade level content instruction.  Preliminary results show a significant growth in early numeracy skills across all  5 student participants.
