All Commencement participants, dressed in full academic regalia, must arrive at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center foyer (SOE graduate holding area) NO LATER than 5:00pm.  It is important to be there by 5:00pm to make sure you are checked in and lined up before the 6:00pm start. Please leave all personal belongings with a friend or family member or in your car. There will be no secure area to leave belongings during the ceremony.

ALL GRADUATES MUST SIGN IN AT REGISTRATION.

REGISTRATION CHECK-IN FOR GRADUATES BEGINS AT 4:00PM ON THE 9TH.

When you arrive to the Coliseum you will proceed directly to the registration table, where you will check in by last name (i.e. A-D, E-K, etc.) There you will pick up your numbered card with your phonetically spelled name and any approved honor you have indicated via online registration. A marshal will then direct you to the appropriate line up area. Make sure to keep your card with you for the name caller at all times. The number on your card will correspond with your place in lineup. You will be lined up alphabetically with your major for the processional and seated in this order during the ceremony.

COMMENCEMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Graduates will march in and be seated by degree. There will be a brief welcome and introduction of guests by Dean Wixson. Dr. Mark Edwards, Superintendent of the Mooresville Graded School District and 2013 AASA National Superintendent of the Year, will be the keynote speaker. We will also hear from a representative from both the undergraduate and graduate classes.

You will line up and be announced by degree; doctoral students are hooded first, then master students walk, followed by undergraduates. Your name will be announced (from your card provided at check-in) and you will cross the stage, shake hands, and receive a diploma cover.

DIPLOMA

Your diploma will not be in the cover you receive at the Commencement Ceremony. It will be mailed to you later by the Registrar’s Office after all degree clearances are completed by the University.

PHOTOGRAPHY

A photographer will be on-site to take your photo as you cross the stage. Information regarding how to purchase photos will be sent to you from the photographer after the ceremony. Please make sure to include a non-UNCG email address on your Commencement Registration Form so they will be able to contact you after the ceremony for your graduation photos.
